Michael Powell Christmas Cards

The Christmas range from Michael Powel has beautiful imagery and really was a pleasure to work with. These cards have proved very popular with everyone who has seen them. The card kits were very popular as there was just so much extra you could use in them.

So here we go :)

This card was made up using the picture on the front cover of a Michael Powell card kit. I just popped it into an aperture card and glittered it up. The greeting was an excess image that was left in the paper after all the decoupage was popped out..

 

These cute little houses were also cut out from the excess of the Michael Powell kit. I just covered a square card with blue paper and then tore light white card into strips. Don't worry about the rough edges as they get covered with glitter to create the snowy look on the hills. Just a strip of double sided tape along the white strips of card (near the end) will stick this to the card. That way the top part of the paper strip is free for you to slot your images in. Then the glitter glue will bind them to the card. Start with the highest layer first and then work your way downwards. I work with long strips so I can play with the hills to make it all look good. Anything that hangs over the side or the bottom of the card gets cut off later :) Once the layers are on slot in your images. Your last thing to do is to add the glitter glue as snow and then DON'T TOUCH IT!!!!! Give it loads of time to dry and then your card is ready to go.

This has got to be one of my favorite techniques at Christmas as you can use any small images and cute little stickers.I actually made loads of these to sell for Christmas this year and sold them all. I sadly forgot to photograph them!

 

These are toppers just layered onto gold and made into mini cards.

For this card I stamped the Michael Powell image 4 times. I then cut them with the Xcut Postage Stamp dies working from largest to smallest. Its a bit fiddly getting it to look central but I think its worth the effort. They are just layered up with 3D foam and then matted onto black card to make it pop. A quick greeting, some gems and its done :)

 

So after working on the last card I was left with all the negative sections of the image I had cut out. I stamped the image in full one more time and then used the negative pieces and layered them up to make it look like your looking into a deep picture.I actually built a little box for the layered image to sit in to before I put the black front frame on so that the white sides were hidden but you really don't have to do that it was just me having a bit of a mess about and it worked out nicely!

The start of Christmas Card posts :)

Yahoo, I'm back. My blog has refused to accept photos for nearly a month now and last night I finally cracked how to make it all work again :)

Now for the manic catch up posts (a few each day)  to show you all the Christmas cards before the big day on the 25th. So starting today I'm going to uploadi all the Christmas cards I can find on my computer to show to all of you. Some of you may have seen them at my demos and some are cards I did with my classes so hopefully there is a bit of something for everyone.

So we will start right now with some fab stamp sets  I got from Waltzing Mouse Stamps, there is a link on the right hand side of my blog to their web site and they have a fabulous gallery of cards to make your creativity go wild.

Christmas Bauble gone rogue!!!!!

For the last two years at Christmas time Docrafts have brought out bauble decorations. You just had to add wire and beads by putting your tongue between your teeth, squinting your eyes and threading them and making them look pretty :) Well that's what I did with them last year, this year I decided not to go through it all again I I made these toppers for my cards instead and you know what I LOVE THEM :)

I have taken about 11 or 12 of the S shaped sections and popped a brad through all the bottom ends (all pre punched) and then brought the opposite ends over and through the brad to form the flower. A little bit of playing to get the spacing right and voila a beautiful topper.

So when is a bauble not a bauble................when it goes rogue and becomes a topper!!!!!

Elegant Christmas

I have to say if I had a figure like this and could afford a dress like this then I would be one happy girl!!!! lol

This card is made by joining 2 A6 cards together. The images are from the Strictly Christmas range from Docrafts and are just simply mounted onto red card and then onto the card itself.

Easy peasy :)

Christmas Door

Ahhhhhhh, I love the simplicity of white card with a touch of color. This has to be one of my favourate Christmas cards this year as its just so clean and effective.

I cut a square of card until it was the size I wanted to create the embossed door frame. Then working on a magazine  I placed the piece of card down centrally on the inside front panel of the card and scored around it. The great thing about this is that you can just keep that piece of card as a template to make this card again and again.

For the inside panels again it was just a bit of playing around to get a layout that looks good to you. Cut two squares and two rectangles. When you are happy with the sizes just place them on a  magazine, piercing mat or mouse mat and score around the edges of each square and rectangle. Place on the card with 3D foam, pop on a brad and a quick topper and volia a door is made :)

Acetate Christmas Scene

Wow, it has taken ages for me to get back to blogging!!!!

I am finally back and so today I thought I would show you a card using the Christmas Tidings Silent Night Stamp.  I printed the stamp out in full and sponged it with blue ink to give that lovley wintery effect. I stamped the image out again but this time I masked the greeting section with a post it note so when I printed it the To and From words weren't shown. I cut out the greeting part mounted it on top of the original stamped image with 3D foam and put a Merry Christmas Glitterations sticker on as the greeting. Then I mounted the prepared piece on a white piece of card and then onto another piece of sponged card. Everything was mounted onto a folded piece of strong acetate.

I love working with acetate as it just creates this fantastic floating effect on a card. You can see in the first picture that I have made a panel slightly smaller then the front image to sit inside the card so it can be written on.
